  First International Volunteer Day for UNV in Armenia and Uruguay    
UNV's stand at the 'volunteer of the year' fair on International Volunteer Day. (UNV)
International Volunteer Day (IVD) 2008 was a great opportunity to promote volunteerism around the world, especially in two countries where UNV is just beginning operations...

The new UNV office in Armenia made use of IVD to draw more attention to volunteerism in a country where it has rarely been recognized before; and the one in Uruguay took the opportunity to highlight the work carried out by many civil society organizations through volunteer and community service projects.

Marking a new partnership between UNV and PECDAR

Ms. Joyce Yu, UNV Deputy Executive Coordinator, and Dr. Mohammad Shtyyeh, President of PECDAR, signed the ‘Letter of Intent’ on 18 December 2008.  Also present was Mr. Ibrahim Hussein, Chief a.i., ARLAC-UNV and PECDAR officials. (UNV)
Ramallah, Palestinian Territory: On 18 December 2008 UNV and the Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction (PECDAR) signed a ‘Letter of Intent’ for the recruitment of Palestinian nationals for international UNV volunteer assignments. Read
