In China
Local student volunteers helping senior citizens in Dongcheng district, China (UNV, 2008).
China has an extraordinary opportunity to engage citizens as volunteers to contribute in the social and environmental development of the country. China’s rate of volunteer participation has significant potential to grow and volunteers can be provided with opportunities to directly contribute to China’s development.

The further development of volunteerism in China requires heightened public awareness and understanding of the benefits that volunteerism can provide to individuals, society and the country as a whole. It also requires the capacity to manage effectively volunteers and create meaningful volunteer opportunities for women and men across China.

In this section, you will find information about the requirements and benefits of being an international or national UNV volunteer. This section will also provide a list of UNV volunteer vacancies in China.
